FTI’S POST SOUND PRODUCTION WORKSHOP WITH KIM LORD Is a first hand look into the concepts and processes that make up Sound Post Production in film and television environments with Location Recordist, Lecturer and re-recording mixer Kim Lord.

This workshop will offer awareness and understanding to those who are directly involved in the filmmaking process but not specifically in sound. Held in a contemporary mixing environment, examples of post production will be shown to support the guided discussion and demonstrate relevance. Participants will have opportunities throughout the day to share their own experiences/hurdles in order to troubleshoot and seek solutions.

FTI’s Post Production Sound Workshop topics include;

  • What does Post Production mean?
  • Assessing the Film by listing and addressing its needs
  • Managing a post schedule
  • How useable is the Dialogue? -What are your options if it’s not?
  • Sound Effects - When to use sound effects, where to find good quality ones and the best ways to store/categorise and reuse them.
  • Foley- Do you need it? Should you record it? And how
  • Managing music choices

  • Sound mixing- what is it? What environment is best? What takes place in the mix?
