Now hear this! Kinetic Carnival is coming to town and is sticking around for the Easter long weekend April 1-5. Check out Perth’s freshest film event happening in various locations in the city and introducing some of the greatest film freaks in the land. KC is all about exhibiting innovative works, present new screening concepts and introducing extraordinary guests.

Venues & Tickets

Opening Night Thursday April 1st Northbridge Piazza. We kick it all off with a free short film spectacular including a sneak peak at the world’s most innovative short film festival Future Shorts and the worlds first online movie studio HitRECord then be dazzled at some local and international short films on the giant TV screen. Dress up carnival style then join us at the carny after party at City Farm East Perth for an introduction to our main events space and a spectacle of sound and vision.

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari Remixed
Hear Ye all ye horror fans and enthusiasts out there! The doctor is on his way and he’s not his usual self. Kinetic Carnival is ecstatic to present Perth’s premier performance of the 1920’s German classic film The Cabinet of Dr Caligari Remixed by Adelaide’s electronic shop-aholics Supermarket. The Doctor is presented unlike ever before! Don’t miss this one and only spectacular live music film score act at Kinetic Carnival performing Good Friday April 2nd at 10pm. And appearing before the Doctor is our one and only Electro Disco Showman Tomas Ford. Direct from his extraordinarily unique sold out show at the Astor Theatre, Mr Ford is back to thrill you and drill you before your subjected to the power awesomeness of our headlining act.

Meet the Film Freaks
And if that’s not enough to fill your greedy buckets of want-fullness then attend our amazing line up of super film freaks on Saturday April 3rd 1pm at City Farm. Marvel and wonder at their astonishing stories of cinematic trials tortures and tribulations. But what ever you do DON’T NOT FEED THEM!

Historical Australian Avant Garde Program
Saturday April 3rd 10pm City Farm. Prepare yourselves for an obscure journey in filmmaking. The Historical Australian Avant Garde Program will thwart you into another dimension of sight and sound with each film emanating from a marvelous 16mm celluloid film projector. If you love the art of film then
don’t miss this amazing premier collection of fringe shorts.

Warming you up will be the lands most renowned sorcerer of sinful cinema Jamie Leonarder direct from Sydney’s Mu-Meson Archives delivering two astonishing presentations from his vast video vault. Freaks Geeks and almost X Rated Peeps, a roller coaster ride of cinema gone wrong plus Synchromysticism and the Decoding of Hollywood Cinema. Is Hollywood trying to tell us something? Or have you all lost your marbles? We guarantee you will never watch movies the same way again!

Projector Bombing
Sunday April 4th 8pm Join us with local cyber-punk Jerrem Lynch and witness the art of projector bombing. Somewhere in the city, the walls will come to life as vibrant color and images are splashed onto boring bricks and concrete. Stay tuned for the location is soon to be released online and at the festival.

Closing Night Monday April 5th 8pm Empyrean will host the WA premier of local lass Emma Franz’s debut documentary feature film Intangible Asset No82. Come along on a cultural quest to an exotic foreign land as one man fulfills a personal mission searching for an illusive ancient singing shaman. Then join us at the official Kinetic Carnival after party at the Ellington Jazz Club. All ticket holders will receive half price entry to the club.
