West Australian Young Actors Recognised in LA

Nathan Coenen and Valentina Barron have been nominated at the Young Artists Awards in Los Angeles for performances in the Link funded short Tinglewood and the TV series Stormworld respectively.
Commonly known as the oscars for actors under 21, the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at Studio City in Los Angeles on April 11.
Valentina plays the female lead character Flees in the science fiction drama series created and co-produced by Perth’s Great Western Entertainment and will be screen on the Nine Network later this year.
Nathan’s performance has also earned Tinglewood a screening at The Method Fest, March 25 – 31, which showcases breakout acting performances.
Tinglewood tells the story of the McCallum family who set up camp in the Tinglewood Forest for a family vacation, only to encounter an unknown force that leads to a violent battle for survival. The film has gathered a raft of awards worldwide, including Best Actor for Nathan at the 22nd WA Screen Awards in 2009. More
Stormworld is WA’s largest “home-grown” drama to date and involved shooting in Broome, Wanneroo, Singapore and Vancouver.
Stormworld was produced by Perth’s Great Western Entertainment and Brightlight Pictures of Vancouver. The principal investor was Screen Australia and the series was produced with the participation of the Media Development Authority (Singapore) and Theatre Red in association with ScreenWest and Lotterywest, the Nine Network Australia and CTV Limited.
