Brooding Success

19 March 2008

Organisation

The short horror film Brood‚ has recently screened as part of the prestigious Bradford International Film Festival run by the UK’s National Media Museum as well as the Thriller Chiller Film Festival in Michigan. It is also set to screen at two more international festivals this year, Brazil’s Fantaspoa and Oklahoma’s Bare Bones Film Festival.

This film debuted at the Fremantle Outdoor Film Festival (FOFF) last year, and picked up a WA Screen Award for Best Script and a marketing grant from ScreenWest.

Brood‚ was created by the Film and Television Institute’s Members Production Group (MPG). It was directed by veteran MPG member Charlie Lewis, and written and produced by fellow MPG stalwart Mark Hudson.

Mark developed his skills in screenwriting by completing the Diploma of Screenwriting program at the Film and Television Institute. Charlie’s directorial skills were developed by osmosis and self-funding rather than the traditional “working at a video store and watching all the films 20 times” method as pioneered by Quentin Tarantino, DW Griffith and or McG.
