ABC TV’s Message Stick has won Outstanding Achievement in Television at the 15th Annual Deadly Awards.
The Deadly Awards were held at the Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House last Thursday. From more than 8000 nominations made from people right across Australia, there were 80 finalists vying for a coveted Deadly award.
“It was such an honour for the program to be recognised in this way, particular by popular vote. Our viewers like us!” said Executive Producer, Indigenous Unit, Susan Moylan-Coombs.
All four series of Deadly Yarns films have screened on ABC TV’s Message Stick. Deadly Yarns is a joint Initiative of ScreenWest, ABC Television and the Film & Television Institute designed to showcase the work of Indigenous writers, directors and producers through the production of 5-minute films. Western Australian Indigenous filmmakers are invited to explore their ‘Deadliest Short Story’ in either a documentary, drama, doco-drama, or animation format.
