The Water Was Dark And It Went Forever Down was recently awarded Third Place, Independent Narrative in the Canadian International Annual Film Festival 2009.

Based on a short story of the same name by Western Australia author Tim Winton and filmed on location at the Lancelin coast, The Water Was Dark And It Went Forever Down tells the story of a young girl who tries to escape the drowning influence of her alcoholic mother. The girl swims to an island inhabited only by birds. It is there she realises that only the strong survive.
The Water Was Dark And It Went Forever Down was funded by FTI’s Link Fund.
The fund aims to develop creative teams, filmmaking skills, and the financial and project management skills required of early career independent filmmakers within professional industry standards
