The Graduate Competition

FTI wants to show off the sublime skills of its animation graduates by helping them create a 2 – 5 minute film. If you are an ex-FTI student, have a terrific animation idea in your brain place and no excuse to work on it, then the Graduate Comp is the answer!

Submissions will be in form of brief synopsis, outline and concept drawings. The best idea will then be selected for creation, to be used as a beacon of awesomeness.

“Wait, what do I have to send?”

• SYNOPSIS (What happens and why is it wicked) This could be a few paragraphs to half a page, depending on how complex your story is.
• OUTLINE (How and where?) What kind of project is it? 2D flash? Stop mo? What is the style and feel? How long will it be? Everything BUT the story goes here.
• CONCEPT ART (Oooh Purty!) Show us what your brain pictures will look like, including character turn arounds, back grounds, incidental objects and fonts. Send us visuals which express the style of your story.

“What then?”

Entries close Thursday 29 October 2009 Be sure to get everything into us by then!

After we have received all the entries they will be given to the ninja monkey robot for an ancient and mysterious “flinging oriented” selection ceremony, or just deliberated over by some FTI guys, either way, one project will then be awarded the title of “WINNAR!” This will be announced on Thursday 12 November 2009.

The animator responsible will then have until Thursday 14 January 2010 to make their idea a reality.

The title of “WINNAR!” (of course)

The winning film will also been screened in front of industry types at the 2010 Bohemia Outdoor Cinema season!
