Funding Deadlines
The TOWN OF VINCENT FILM PROJECT 2007 was screened on Sunday night January 13th , 2008. A large audience of filmgoers and Vincent residents enjoyed the balmy weather and an opportunity to picnic and enjoy local bands before the main screening began at 7pm.
The films were shown on an inflatable screen and the pictures were sharp and the overall sound quality in the park was excellent. The films Tessa Millesse’s RETA REMEMBERS, a documentary about a long-time resident recalling her childhood and adolescence in the Town of Vincent. Hannah Pocock’s CHOCOHOLIC about a Mount Hawthorn man who runs a successful business based on traditional Belgian chocolatiering techniques. Kenta McGrath’s THE GROUNDSKEEPER a sly comedy about an outlaw golfer who meets the title character of the film. The fourth and final offering on the bill was Lis Hoffmann’s THE DOGS OF VINCENT, a longer documentary work about owners and their dogs on the Britannia Road reserve.
This was the third year of the Vincent Film Project and the quality of the applications has increased with every subsequent year. In association with the Film and Television Institute, the competition will be held again in 2008/2009.
The project aims to represent the Town of Vincent, its residents and their stories, as well as provide emerging film makers with an opportunity to showcase their film making abilities.
The successful applicants will receive $2000 cash and up to $3000 in equipment and facilities hire from FTI plus a 12 month FTI membership.
The deadline for applications is July 20.
An information night will be held on June 16 at 7.00 pm at the Administration and Civic Centre, 244 Vincent Street, Leederville
