FTI Graduates nominated for WA Screen Awards

Graduates and Projects from FTI’s training programs feature prominently in the 2005 WA Screen Awards nominations that were announced on Monday.

Two projects from the FTI Animation Centre are nominated in the categories of Award for Animation and Best Animation Production, Roseline Lau’s stop motion short Spooky Doll Kids and Daniel Pita’s 3D Animation Jelly Invader.

Both Daniel and Roseline graduated from FTI’s Certificate IV in Screen (Animation) program prior to joining the CADSA program at the Animation Centre.

Jemma Bartlett is nominated for her visual effects work on the short film Under the Skin that was also created in the CADSA program.

Ian Tregonning and Kate Vyvyan’s CADSA project Jelly Jym has been short listed in the category of Best Community Television Production.

Mike Berry Porter, a graduate of the Video Production course, is nominated in the Cinematography category for his work on the short film Hearts and Minds.

Also nomintated are a wide variety of graduates from FTI’s training programs including CADSA graduate Nicholas Tripodi with the animated Falling (from my human disguise), which is shortlisted in two categories.

CADSA graduates Matt Hermans and Phil Barrenger are nominated for their visual effects on I Chapman.

Director Rob Castiglione and Producer Robyn Kingdom have both received nominations for their short documentary The Three Dragon Tenors and Toby Lynhe who completed a Certificate II in Multimedia has been short listed in the category of Best Student Production (Secondary) with his documentary Junkadelic, a funkumentary.

Composer Ashley Gibson Greig has received two nominations in the Musical Score Category, one for his work on the short film Here Comes the Breeze, which was a professional practice project for participants in FTI’s training program in Video Production.
