Neighbours Producer, Neal Kingston returns to Perth to help emerging filmmakers

Neal Kingston, the producer behind iconic Australian TV show, Neighbours, is returning to WA to help local screen artists ‘make it’.   
 
Neal will present two FTI masterclasses that demonstrate to emerging filmmakers, how they can successfully produce TV serials and low budget features.
 
Producing Serial Television” will take place next Wednesday evening, 24 September at FTI in the State Library of WA and will cover the process of running a daily serial drama.

Successful City of Vincent Grant Recipients Announced

Three City of Vincent stories have been commissioned for production as part of the City of Vincent Film Project.
 
Administered by FTI, the City of Vincent Film Project aims to represent the City of Vincent, its residents and their stories, as well as provide emerging filmmakers with an opportunity to showcase their film making abilities.
 
Selected short film productions include a documentary on the man behind a local ghost story and two comedies by some of WA’s most exciting young film teams.

FTI Screen Sector Hub Planning Session

What do you want to see delivered in the City?
 
FTI Members are invited to join a select group of industry practitioners to discuss the possibility of creating a screen sector hub in close proximity to the Perth CBD.
 
As outlined in FTI’s 2013-15 Strategic Plan, the screen sector hub would act as a home for FTI and include an incubator space and associated public engagement / exhibition space.

Paul Barron to Mentor Emerging Filmmakers at FTI

Acclaimed film and television producer, Paul Barron, has been confirmed as FTI’s next “Professional in Residence”. Working from FTI’s new Northbridge offices in the State Library of WA, Paul will provide one-on-one script, project and general career advice to screen artists who are current members of FTI, SPA, AWG or ADG. 
 
Paul Barron will bring over thirty years experience as a independent film and television producer to the FTI program, which aims to assist emerging screen practitioners.

“FTI FILM LAB” TO PROVIDE FREE TEST SCREENING FOR MEMBERS

FTI FILM LAB is a new initiative that offers FTI Members the opportunity to have their yet-to-be-completed films take part in a test screening at the State Library of WA, theatre.
 
Following the test screening, audience members will complete a feedback questionnaire to assist the filmmakers to refine their films further.
 
Those filmmakers whose productions are selected for the test screening are welcome to invite audience members, whose opinions they would like to obtain.

The Dark Room Live Comes To FTI

FTI is bringing fiendish interactive pioneer and expat comedian John Robertson back to Perth for a live adaptation of his hit YouTube game, The Dark Room.
   
The Dark Room Live harks back to retro 80’s game shows and text based adventure games, combining physical challenges, difficult trivia and arbitrary cruelness to create a truly unique multi-media show.
 
Prior to the show, John will also be holding a Masterclass on Interactive Media and Improvisation titled “Improv for Jerks”.
