Council Seeks Tall Tales
10 June 2010
Organisation
So, what’s your story? That’s what the Town of Vincent and the Film & Television Institute WA are asking as they seek Filmmakers with something to say.
It’s all part of the Town of Vincent Film Project that each year provides funding for original short films that are about, or set in, the Town of Vincent.
To get the creative juices flowing, the Town of Vincent will be holding an Information Session at 7pm on next Thursday, the 17th June at the Vincent Administration Centre. The session will be an opportunity for Filmmakers and other storytellers, to meet, share ideas and get inspired to create a 5 minute masterpiece.
2009 participant, WA Screen Award winner and Town of Vincent local, John Macliver, encouraged all young filmmakers to take advantage of the opportunity to use the wealth of material available to help establish their careers.
“I was involved as a producer on the documentary ‘The New Oxford Project’. The documentary looked at the history of the New Oxford Theatre, now Luna Cinemas, since its opening in 1927 through to present day. The piece explored the impact the venue has had on culture and residents of Leederville
“Being involved with the Town of Vincent Film Project was rewarding in both a personal and professional capacity. Having worked at Luna Cinemas when I was younger it was really interesting to speak to other people who had been involved with the New Oxford Theatre and Luna over the years and how it had changed. Through the documentary we were able to connect with some amazing individuals and relive their stories. We now have these memories committed to tape – so they can’t ever be lost”
RSVP’s to the Information Session are essential and should be made to Richard Gunning on 9273 6041 or richard.gunning@vincent.wa.gov.au, by no later than Wednesday 16 March 2010.
