Shot in Perth late last year and starring some of the country’s best known actors, Needle is drumming up a lot of interest in the horror community.
Perth director John Soto describes the feature as an Agatha Christie meets Saw. The official trailer promises a gruesome and suspenseful ride which doesn’t compromise on production values. Cinematographer Steve Windon (The Fast and Furious 3, Deep Blue Sea, The Patriot, The Pacific miniseries) was on board to oversee the look of the film.
Needle is a dark tale of murders amongst a group of young college students who are targeted by a vengefull killer who uses an 18th century machine with deadly supernatural powers.
The majority of the crew are from Perth, with stars Jessica Marais, Trilby Glover and Khan Chittenden hailing from Western Australia. The cast also features Australian acting stars Ben Mendelsohn, Michael Dorman, and John Jarrat and American actress Jane Badler.
The film is slated to release in Australia early next year and Lightning Entertainment has secured worldwide rights.
