WAM BAM Animation Competition

29 June 2010

Screenings - External

WAM BAM is the exciting, intensive and fun 48 hour speed animation competition run by the West Australian animation association, WAnimate. This unique competition pits several teams against each other in an all-out battle to cook up the most creative, animated film they can – all within the incredibly challenging deadline.

Each team of up to five participants takes three random words from a hat. These words are used as a springboard to inspire the rapid brainstorming of creative story ideas. Armed with these ideas and using supplied hardware, software and facilities, teams set about in a flurry of frantic concept art, crazed character design, manic set building and all manor of technical wizardry. All culminating in the production of a short and often hilarious, animated film.

A public screening is held on the last night for all team members, family, friends, supporters and industry representatives. Awards are given out by both a panel of judges and popular vote. This year’s prize pool is valued at over $5,000, with prizes including production licenses of Adobe software, training DVDs from The Gnomon Workshop, art books from Ballistic Publishing and spot prizes you can win just by participating.

To register your team or as an individual, go to the the WAnimate website.
