2006

2006 saw experienced television directors Mark DeFriest and Adrian Holmes among a great line-up of talented local filmmakers hit the road for an action packed year of regional workshops.

This year took on a strong documentary and animation focus, with the fantastic docu-drama “Team Killer” following the Noonkanbah Boys on a quest for food, “Children of the Milky Way” looking at the diversity of artists in Mowanjum community and “Shifting Tides” showcasing the first Indigenous mud-crab farm.

Later in the year, the Roadshow took on a more musical approach, with a group of girls in Yandeyarra creating their own hip-hop music video “Yande Girls” and Mt Barker participants getting their hands dirty with the creation of “Mud Run”, a short docu-drama on the annual Mt Barker High School teachers vs students mud fight.

This year the Bunbury workshop was featured on GWN in addition to six films being broadcast on the ABC2 digital channel. Three films from 2006 were also selected to be included in the prestigious 2007 Revelation International Film Festival as part of an Indigenous showcase.
