Comfortable Shorts is a new monthly Short Film Night at Melbourne’s Loop Bar. Running every third tuesday night, it aims to present the best new local and international short films in a fun atmosphere. Future Shorts

Future Shorts is looking for WA short films to screen as part of our monthly programme.

What: WA films to screen as part of Future Shorts in Perth, Albany, Esperance, Bunbury and Port Hedland (more WA towns to join the network soon).
How long: 20 min or less
Submission cost: free
For: Films made in the last 12 months
Genre: Short films, docos and story based music clips are accepted.
Special bit: All successful films are then considered for international distribution by FS London (a recently successful WA film is current being seriously considered for the global FS programme).

Asolo International Art Festival

From 18 to 29 August 2012.

In order to participate, films must have been produced no earlier than the year 2010 and must fall into one of the following categories: Films on Art, Artist’s Biographies, Films on Archtecture and Lanscape, Film on Design and Enterprise, Video Art and Computer Art, Productions by Schools of Cinema.

BOFA Film Festival (Tasmania)

$20,000 is on offer to filmmakers worldwide that can capture the “Essence of Tasmania” in a three minute short film. The four winning films will be used by Tourism Tasmania to promote Tasmania through a number of channels, including the increasingly important social media.

Your Film Festival

The global search for the world’s best storytellers.
YouTube and Emirates, in partnership with La Biennale di Venezia (the Venice Film Festival) and Scott Free, announced today Your Film Festival. You have until March 31st to submit a short, story-driven video. There’s no entry fee. It can be any format – short film, web-series episode, TV pilot – and any genre. In June, audiences around the world will vote, sending 10 deserving storytellers to open the 2012 Venice Film Festival where a Grand Prize Winner will be be rewarded with a $500,000 grant to create a new work, produced by Ridley Scott and his world class team.
