JELLY JYM, a half hour science orientated pre school TV program was developed at the FTI Animation Centre. The show wqas recently broadcast on Access 31.
Project Mentor and writer Kate Vyvyan has developed the ideas behind the show through years of running her own Pre School Play group -the (original)Jelly Jym – and combining that experience with her tallents as a science presenter and her own responcibilitys as a mother of three.
With a team of participants from CADSA program at the Animation Centre and guideance from puppeteer and producer Ian Tregonning, she has worked up the idea into a TV piolet that is now being submited to Broadcasters around the world.
Combining Science presenters, Animation, Pupetry and live action elements, Jelly Jym is nothing if it is not ambitious – but it has combined into a delightful show – informative and fun, for the pre school audience.
“We recently had a screening here at the FTI cinema, for the public and local school groups, and the reception was fantastic” said Kate, “They just wanted more…”
“It’s amazing what’s being achieved here in Perth in animation, puppetry and games development” said Ian. “At CADSA we’re working together to harness that creativity to develop real commercial outcomes such as a TV pilot show like JELLY JYM” he said.
Our nomination for the WASA award was great,” said Ian, “a real stamp of approval from the Western Australian film making community”
