2003
In 2003, the Making Movies Roadshow traveled almost 18,000km presenting 5 day filmmaking workshops and screenings to 10 communities over five regions in WA from August to December.
The Making Movies Roadshow project was made possible through the generous support of the State Government’s Department of Local Government and Regional Development WARIS (Western Australian Regional Initiatives Scheme) grant, with additional support from ScreenWest/Lotterywest
Over 120 individuals undertook the introductory workshops, which resulted in 31 films being produced by first time filmmakers. A total of 40 Outdoor Cinema events screened Australian feature films, WA short films, Making Movies Roadshow films and slideshows.
Two of the films produced were selected in the Over the Fence Comedy Film Festival, and many participants have continued creating their own films. Following the tour, films were screened on BRACS (Broadcasting to Remote Aboriginal Communities Scheme) as well as in and around Perth.
