Animation Centre

The Animation Centre is a focal point for a ‘community of creative practice’ and its outcomes are multifaceted, ranging from successful creative concept development to the commencement of new business, and the ability to provide ‘hands on’ experience to the next generation of animators. The programs at the Animation Centre are presented in an open access format and do not include any cost to the participant.

Current projects allow early career animators, working with more established practitioners, an opportunity to develop visual pitch documents for animation series. The projects in this program have been a combination of skills development, industry interaction and risk taking innovation.

FTI Invaded Supanova to Make Monsters

This year at Supanova Perth, FTI combined animation forces with the web-series creators of Gate St High to give convention goers the chance to make their own monster.

The web-series mixes werewolves, vampires and zombie students together to create high school mayhem and teen drama. The Gate St animators talked about the show and provided a live animation demonstration as part of the FTI display.

Over the June weekend, 111 monsters were drawn on site. One lucky monster will be chosen to be the newest student in the Gate St series. Stay tuned as the new student monster at Gate St High will be announced this week.

‘The FTI Animation Centre gave me the opportunity to experience and learn a project life cycle in the games sector. I was overwhelmed with the knowledge I received, at the time, FTI was able to bring in industry related people to guide and assist us with our projects. The benefits of knowing what to expect in the games and television industry was a bonus and it helped me build my confidence and achieve my goals. The program at FTI was definitely a great stepping stone into the industry.’
