Animation Centre
The Animation Centre is a focal point for a ‘community of creative practice’ and its outcomes are multifaceted, ranging from successful creative concept development to the commencement of new business, and the ability to provide ‘hands on’ experience to the next generation of animators. The programs at the Animation Centre are presented in an open access format and do not include any cost to the participant.
Current projects allow early career animators, working with more established practitioners, an opportunity to develop visual pitch documents for animation series. The projects in this program have been a combination of skills development, industry interaction and risk taking innovation.
Former participants of programs of the Animation Centre are now successfully working in a wide range of roles in the Screen Industries, as well as the Resource, Defence and Health sectors, in roles including 2D and 3D Animators, Writers, Puppeteers, Producers, Voice Artists, Set Designers and as Special and Visual Effects Artists. Participants are employed not only in Western Australia but throughout Australia.
‘The FTI Animation Centre gave me the opportunity to experience and learn a project life cycle in the games sector. I was overwhelmed with the knowledge I received, at the time, FTI was able to bring in industry related people to guide and assist us with our projects. The benefits of knowing what to expect in the games and television industry was a bonus and it helped me build my confidence and achieve my goals. The program at FTI was definitely a great stepping stone into the industry.’
