adminHey, if you are interested in a working holiday (or longer) in Thailand, come join us. It's fun here.
Anya Animation can only pay local wages, but that kind of money goes a long way here in Bangkok, and you'll work with gentle people in a country everybody loves to travel to. Would suit a talented MAYA (only) character animator who is backpacking and wants to share their skills in broken English and bad Thai in a developing country. It's a bit like working with the missionaries or the Peace Corps, except we make cartoons.
We'd like you to be experienced, professional, and able to adjust to polite Thai culture. Minimum 3 months, please. Able to start soon preferable. They probably can't help with your travel costs but you can talk to the producers about anything else, such as assistance finding housing. The project is scheduled to September (estimated).
Please email link to downloadable reel & work history.

Q: Can I pay my bills in USA/Australia/Europe and work for Thai wages?
A: Not if you have a big mortgage, dependent family, car loan, etc, but if you have money saved and you are dusting off your backpack and your copy of Lonely Planet, you are probably in the financial ballpark.
Q: What about remote work?
A: No thanks. If we want that, we'll advertise for it.
Q: What do you mean by talented/experienced/professional?
A: Good sense of cartoony posing, acting, timing, and weight. Experience planning and blocking shots with a director, understanding character-animation language/styles (including classical terminology and training), experience responding to direction and requests for changes. Ability to be cool under pressure, manage your time, and meet deadlines with your sense of humor intact. A year or two working in Film/TV preferred, depending on your skill.
Q: Are there any lead/supervisor positions?
A (1): We are mostly looking for regular animation crew, who enjoy sharing some of their skills, and who also enjoy learning. There may be some lead/supervisor tasks required from time to time. However, we would be happier if you were not focused on this as a formal role, at this time, until we get to know you.
A (2): There may be a lead position - but at this time I don't know if it is possible, and the producers tell me we'd need to try you out for a couple of months first.David J Smith
