I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what makes a good press release or press kit?

Your press kit should contain a short synopsis (1 paragraph, 4-5 sentences to create want-to-see) bios that emphasize professional experience, good digital stills on disc (make sure you take great stills during production and have a good director headshot), and a director's statement is always good because people love to know the "inside scoop" as in, what was your inspiration for the film? or... talk about an experience you had during the shoot or.... anything that gives a personal glimpse into the background of the project. I think postcards are one of the most efficient and cheapest press materials you can create - just make sure you have a good, not-too-dark image on the visual side, and on the "mailer" side, only put your contact info, this way you can use them for multiple purposes - not simply as postcards to be mailed, but on the cover of your press kit for example, or as notecards to follow up with people you've met and spoken to about your film.
