I thought as I am going to be speaking about using Social Media to market your films, I thought I might just give a brief introduction on what is Social Media Marketing and some great tools for Short Film makers.
Here is a great video explaining What is Social Media?
Here is a great post from one of the leading social media strategist in Australia Laurel Papworth on ‘TV & Films implementing Social Media Campaigns.’
Tomorrow I will kick off a list of the online social media environments that Australian Short Film Makers should be aware of?
If you have any specific on social media marketing feel free to ask me!
Also here is a little bit of information about who I am,
My name is Julian Cole, by day I work as a Social Media Strategist at The Population a Social Media Marketing Agency in Sydney.
By night I write my blog Adspace-Pioneers (Social Media Marketing Blog) which has been running for over 2 years and it now ranks in the Top 200 Marketing Blogs in the world. My father is a D.O.P for TVC and short films in Melbourne and my mother is a Producer of TVC also. So film and television is also in my blood. : )

Peter Broderick recently wrote an article that highlights some recent short films that have used non-traditional distribution and lots of social marketing strategies to build audiences.
He spoke at the SPAAfringe conference last week in Sydney, did anyone go along?
