Looking for prop weapons for a project.
Running searches for guns and swords only comes up with "they are not legal" results. Anybody know of any Theatrical Armourers in Perth? Found several over east, but they wouldn't be much help.
Also, does anyone know about the legalities / permits needed for having what look like weapons on location?

For swords and the like try the local medieaval societies ( dozens in Perth) who also supply combat trained extras.
For japanese weaponry try the kendo and ia-do school in Canning Vale.
For guns make sure that you have unusable solid barrel replicas and that you have the co operation of the police and council where you are shooting. -

If you have weapons and not in a public place and not too large a project, just keep it quiet. But yeah otherwise, if its in a public area as the comment says above, contact the council and especially the police.
Can build and mould anything required, but you'd have to contact me at furious.films@hotmail.com -

Thanks for the feedback.
I've decided that it is too hard to do these kinds of shoots in WA. And people wonder why most creative people move over east or overseas...

From our perspective you stopped before you began - What you think and have presented is not real. Best of luck

I know WA can be a discouraging burg at times, however I think I need to defend the cops and common sense on this one.
The firearms branch was most helpful with "I Belong To The Shadows" and I had my permit to carry within two days. It helped of course that I was already a holder of a firearms licence.
If you run wild and free over east, with airsofts, prop weapons or the real thing involved, you can expect to experience the same stressy Police intervention if passing Humble D. Publick sees ""GUNS"" plus ""VIOLENCE"" plus ""BLOOD"", freaks out and tells a little tale.
Were the people I suggested off-forum of any assistance or offer any advice ?
