Presented by the FTI Alumni

Director Mike Newell beautifully captures the South American
country, the costume designs are splendid and the make up
effects successfully age characters as the film spans 53 years
over the late 19th century and early 20th century. There are
some sensual scenes as Florentino pursues younger and younger
women in his relentless role as a lover.
Author Gabriel García Márquez Florentino Ariza is a hopeless romantic who falls passionatelyfor the beautiful Fermina Daza. Instead Fermina marries
a distinguished doctor, while Florentino can only wait silently
for her. He can never forget his first and only true love. Then, fifty-one years, nine months and later, Fermina’s husband dies unexpectedly. At
last Florentino has another chance to declare his feelings and discover if a passion that has endured for half a century will remain unrequited, in a rich, fantastic and humane
celebration of love in all its many forms
