FTI is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a deductible gift recipient under Subdivision 30-BA of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997. This means that any unencumbered donations made to FTI by individuals can be claimed as an exemption for income tax purposes.

Businesses who make donations can also claim this concession, although if there is any benefit arising to a business from making a donation (such as marketing recognition, etc) their donation will be tax deductible to them in the normal course of business as a marketing expense.
