ACFACT is suing internet provider iinet. This is a really important and interesting legal case about copyright and it's enforcement.
A lot of people have asked me my opinion on this during the week, while piracy is a real challenge to broadcasters, I think iinet's response is fairly good.
Dr Tama Leaver has a great overview of the case, take a look.

Acording to the official OzTam Figures nobody in Perth tuned in this week for the debut of the new ABC breakfast news program.
Nationally only 8000 people were watching, so maybe SUNRISE and TODAY can sleep easy?
As this is a program only available on ABC2, the Digital Channel it's potential audience is severly less than the commercial brands. However there are a few things the show could learn from their commercial counterparts.
Officially I didn't see the show on Monday, but in reality I tuned in and watched it simulteneously in three places, online I can see the show 'live', on FOXTEL I can see the show on a one hour delay, and on Free to Air Digital it's on a two hour delay due to the time difference.
Watching the show on line - 'live' was captivating, they broke the story of bombs going off in Indonesia on air - ages before the commercial networks had it. That was a moment of promise.
The in-depth discussion about the newspapers was great, but at other times they seemed to spent way to long on a story. In the morning I'm making coffee, doing the ironing, going to have a shower, talking to the dog, checking email. I need news coverage that is going at the same pace, i kept fidning myself sitting down and watching the news - which is very couter productive to what I'm trying to actually achieve overall.
I thought there would be more linkages to ABC Radio, I mean you would hope I left my television and went out to my car and continued on with the ABC for the next 45 minutes while I drive to work.
There is no clock! I need to know the time.
Virginia Triolli and Barry Cassidy don't have Mel and Kochy chemistry - and that's OK, I just think Barry should give Virginina a bit more space on the couch - it looks like a 70/30 split at the moment.
I really like that there was no camp gossip guy!

Regardless of whether or not you have an interest in Amercian politics or your personal political beliefs, take a look at this very stylish web delivered video from respected documentary filmmaker Errol Morris.
It's a series of short catchy interviews with Republicans who plan to vote for the Democratic candidate Barack Obama. Morris also has written an interesting piece in the NEW YORK TIMES.
The film is quite reminicent of the recent celebrity filled 'Don't Vote' public service announcement in style. The really interesting thing though is how increasingly very high quality media is having a use in political campaigns. In the last Australian federal election the successful Labor party had a much more effective online and Media 2.0 based cmapaign than the sitting Liberal government, whose YouTube video's shot in the wrong ratio just reinforced the image of them being behind the times.
The recent state election in WA had very little online activity, but it'll be interesting to see what techniques are used in our next federal election.

This cool new search tool allows you to search saved in Flickr for images by colour. Image the door that will open when we will be able to search moving images along these lines.
Earlier this year the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) had a great exhibition on the history of computer games, now in the UK the national media museum has announced the set up of a permanant archive focussing on computer games.
Is it just me or does a media museum sound like a lot more fun than a regular museum?

The Interactive Entertainment Association of Australia have just released their third annual survey, head over to Tama Leaver's blog for a good summary of the report.
Among of the interesting statistics is a growing female audience for computer games and a huge amount of support for a R18+ rating for computer games.
