The third project we have in the KEYFRAME program this year is 'Global Shiela'. Highly experienced Marketing Managers Erica Smyth and Melva Stone have created a new iconic figure to promote Australian tourism.
Hello,
I write for the page and screen and over the years have been recognised for my film, theatre, story and poetry but most recently for 'Love You Mum'. The 18 min film of my script was produced in South Australia and nominated 7 times at the 2007 SA Short Screen Awards, going on to win awards in Australia and America. More details appear on the FTI Crew Database or my website.
GLOBAL SHEILA: This concept intrigues me.
Some years ago I wanted to work on a dramatised commercial project which promoted Western Australia and although I had written concepts, that was as far as I got.
I was born in England, grew up in Africa, have lived in the UK and Ireland as an adult and have travelled to Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Hong Kong, so far. I have a long list of places I still want to visit...
I feel a connection with what I've seen and heard about Global Sheila in the video interviews with Erica and Melva, Leone and also note Daniel is attached.
As a screenwriter, I feel I could help 'flesh' out the character of Global Shiela 'a young Nicole Kidman' and would like to offer my skills for stories and situations as needed.
I'm currently working on a feature adaptation of three teen novels by a Melbourne writer and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Some of my own projects are intended for animation so I'm eager for an opportunity to practice writing with a team of animators on a project which will eventuate.
Hopefully I'll hear from you soon.
Regards,
Sue Coughlan
