Deadly Yarns 4 Launch Photos (Part 2)

| | Comments (0)

On Tuesday 11 August about 200 guests joined filmmakers from Roebourne, Broome, Margaret River, Perth and Fremantle at the Maritime Museum, for a sneak preview of the Deadly Yarns short films which screen nationally as part of ABC TV's Message Stick program on Sunday 6 and 13 September.

The five films - by emerging Indigenous directors, writers, actors and producers from Western Australia - make up the fourth instalment of the Deadly Yarns series, which is the result of a joint partnership between ABC, ScreenWest and Film & Television Institute WA.

Vale Blake Snyder

There are so many books on making films out there that you'd probably be hard pressed to read them all.  But one of the best books I've ever read is Blake Snyder's 'Save The Cat'.  Snyder seems to break down plot so simply that you feel writing a blockbuster must be the easiest thing in the world.  He also had a gift of writing as though he was standing in the room talking to you, emphasizing his important points on a whiteboard.  Unfortunately we will never get the chance to see him in front of that whiteboard, as Snyder passed away on 4 August, 2009.

Visit his website to learn more about his work.  Save The Cat is available from all specialty bookshops, including here.
