Now, here's the tip....

Entries for the 23rd WA Screen Awards will close BEFORE Christmas.  That's December 2009.  Wednesday 16th December to be exact.

So get those films finished and enjoy the Christmas break.  You deserve it!

So That's What It's For

The Herald Sun has brought to my attention a Facebook group petitioning the return of 'Hey Hey It's Saturday'.  I spent many a Saturday night watching this show back in the late 80s, so I feel fully qualified to say if this show returns someone should hunt down Corinne Lawrence and pelt her with plucka ducks.

Corinne Lawrence, creator of the Facebook group and spokeswoman for the 'Return of Hey Hey' movement, says that television networks fail to listen to their viewers.  I have to disagree.  Programmers' careers are made and broken by the OzTam viewer report.

It will be interesting to see whether a Facebook group can have the power of getting a show reinstated.  With the sudden demise of Channel 9 in the ratings, due mainly to Ten's surprise hit 'MasterChef', it could be the time to test whether subscribers to a group translate to ratings.

Let the Revelations Begin

The Revelation Perth International Film Festival opened on Thursday 2 July to a huge crowd of local film lovers and film makers.

The audience was treated to the bold visual styling of animated feature and 1920s jazz-scored musical, Sita Sings the Blues. (Animation fans should make sure they see this one on the big screen.)

Afterwards, the bar was full and WA film makers and screen industry professionals celebrated the festival and the first of many networking opportunities and screen debates on offer over the next 10 days.
