The AFI Awards are coming soon and they have just announced their Screen Content Innovation Award finalists.
When one thinks of innovative screen content - what do we think of? This production support manager must admit, with a great deal of shame, that sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed with new technologies. Hey - I'm an 80's kid! I'm from the era when a mix tape was actually a cassette tape - I had a tape walkman even! I loved VHS! Anyway, I digress...
My interest in the AFI Awards this year have grown - especially after our first Hyperlink film WATER was nominated for Best Short Film. So I am paying more attention this year than ever before. However, an email I received this morning has really blew my mind.
Check out the amazing stuff that Australian's are creating for online content. Here is a link to the finalists this year:

My favorite would have to be Scarygirl. I first heard of Scarygirl a couple of years ago when I saw a profile on the artist - I love the style of this and only his toys were for sale back then. I went onto the website and I can see that the artist has embraced technology with an AMAZING online game. Its truly lovely. I started playing it this morning - but I only lasted a few minutes. If I didn't turn it off, I would be here all day playing games whilst mountains of funding applications sit on my desk unopened.
That reminds me - I better get back to it...
