Profile of Board members as elected / appointed at FTI’s AGM held on 13 April 2011:

Lisa Bradock
Chair
Lisa’s involvement with FTI commenced in 1996 as an employee and, upon leaving that employment, her belief in the role of FTI and its importance to the screen industry led her to want to stay involved and do what she could to contribute to FTI continuing to achieve its objectives.
Towards that goal, Lisa was first elected to the Board in 1999 and was re-elected for a seventh two-year term at the 2011 AGM. She was first elected Chair in October 2000 and has retained that position since then as well as being a member of the Board Executive/Finance Committee and a Director of FTI’s film production company, Excalibur Productions.
Lisa has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from UWA and professionally has been employed in senior management positions in various organisations across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors; currently in the public sector as project governance and finance manager for the Fiona Stanley Hospital construction project. She is also a member of the board of the WA Sports Federation, a not-for-profit association that is the peak body for sport and recreation in Western Australia.
Lisa has a broad range of experience in a variety of management areas (including strategic, finance and human resources management), with specific experience in the not-for-profit environment. Lisa has enjoyed contributing, as a member of the Board, to the growth of FTI and the achievement of its objectives and is looking forward to continuing this involvement in the future.

Marjolein Towler
Deputy Chair
Marjolein Towler (Deputy Chair) has been an FTI member since 1989 and served a two-year term on the FTI Board in the early 1990’s. At the AGM in June 2000 she was again elected to the FTI Board and has held the positions of Deputy Chair as well as being a member of the Board Executive/Finance Committee since then. She was re-elected for a sixth term at the April 2010 AGM.
23 years ago Marjolein established her own consultancy company, Consultas, to deliver multimedia production, IT project management, and business process analysis services. She is a qualified Information Designer, a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and a Certified Process Professional Master (CPM) with extensive experience in the development of business and project management systems. In addition, Marjolein’s skills include facilitation, and teaching & training development including delivery.
Marjolein is the Chair of Women in Technology WA (WITWA), a not for profit networking organisation that encourages female participation in the IT sector. She is a member by invitation of the Social Policy Committee at the Chamber of Commerce & Industry WA (CCI) as well as a member of CCI’s Services Industry Forum (which includes the arts).
Marjolein brings to the Board her extensive experience of FTI’s activities and growth during the past decade as well as her wide range of business and project management skills.

Jeremy Emms
Director
Jeremy Emms was appointed to the Board in January 2007 and has been reappointed annually since then – the latest following the April 2011 AGM. Jeremy was born in Scarborough, England, and obtained a degree in Geography at Leicester University – where he spent too much time reading the Antipode Journal – Geographical Radicalism.
He worked for twelve years in sales and marketing for two major international communications groups before migrating to Australia in 1999. Since moving to WA he has worked in direct marketing, traditional advertising and online marketing as an Account Director working with a number of state and national clients. Jeremy established his own business in 2003 to bring different products and business solutions into Australasia.Currently, Jeremy is working with Pindar, a global publishing services business, developing the Asia – Pacific market for traditional and digital book production. Emerging media is definitely becoming converging media as publishers look to video content to support their changing business models. His other interests involve participation in a number of voluntary educational and sporting support organisations. He became acquainted with FTI through friends’ participation and personal observation and uses his networks and thinking to help where and when he can.

Annabel Keogh
Director
Annabel Keogh was appointed to the Board in July 2010 to fill a casual vacancy and was elected for a two-year term at the 2011 AGM. She is presently employed as a consultant at FD, a financial public relations consultancy. Previous to this role Annabel was employed as an Articled Clerk / Solicitor at Jackson McDonald, and at Block Branding as a brand strategist. Through these roles, she is able to offer to the Board highly developed skills in law, communications and strategic marketing.
Annabel graduated with double degrees of Bachelor of Laws (Honours) / Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Notre Dame University, Fremantle in 2007. During her time at university she was heavily involved in University committees, including Secretary of the Notre Dame Student Association, Final Year Representative of the Notre Dame Law Students Association and Assistant Editor of Quasimodo (Notre Dame Student newspaper). Prior to that, Annabel participated in other tertiary studies in Budapest and London.
Annabel is passionate about independent film and she admires FTI’s commitment to ensure local filmmakers have the opportunity to develop their skills in a supported learning environment. She is looking forward to continuing to make a positive contribution to the Board, particularly in the areas of communications and marketing, to ensure FTI continues to fulfil its vital role in the WA independent film industry.

Cassie Rowe
Director
Cassie Rowe has served on the FTI Board since January 2007 and was elected for a further two-year term at the April 2010 AGM. She graduated in FTI’s Screenwriting Diploma in December 2006. Cassie’s present employment is a full time position as Assistant State Secretary for the Australian Labor Party (WA Branch).
Previously she was employment with Police & Nurses Financial Planning as a Financial Planner and with the Bendigo Bank financial planning division, in a highly technical role. In addition, she has worked in Parliament House in Canberra with the then Shadow Minister for Finance, Senator Stephen Conroy. Cassie’s tertiary qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts at Melbourne University, as well as a Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) at the Securities Institute of Australia and an Advanced Diploma of Finance.
She is very passionate about the Film and Television industry in Australia, in particular, the preservation and representation of our culture via these mediums going forward. Cassie looks forward to continuing to make a valuable contribution to the FTI as a Board member and ensure that the Institute continues in its endeavours to promote a local industry.

Graeme Sward
Chief Executive Officer
Graeme Sward (Chief Executive Officer) was appointed as a voting member of the Board when he commenced employment as CEO during September 1999. He is a member of the Board Executive/Finance Committee and also the FTI Alumni Committee.
Graeme has had extensive experience in the broadcasting industry as a Director, Producer and Executive Director, starting his career in 1974. Immediately prior to joining FTI he was a contract Executive Producer for the ABC in Perth and also served for a period on the FTI Board. Graeme is a Director of Excalibur Productions (FTI’s production company) and he served as a Director of ScreenWest for three years from 2001 until 2004.
Graeme was also the series Director of the Mary G Show 2, which screened on SBS Television early in 2002 and he had an involvement for a period as a Director of Access 31 Community Television. He is passionate about FTI and what it represents and has seen the organisation grow and expand under his direction.

James Turnbull
Director
James Turnbull was appointed to the FTI Board in September 2008.and has been reappointed annually since then, the latest following the April 2011 AGM. James, who grew up and lives in the Fremantle area, holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Finance from the University of Western Australia, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder.
James is currently a Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Mergers and Acquisitions team that provide corporate advice in relation to business sales; acquisitions; capital raisings and corporate restructures. James has over 10 years experience in the investment banking industry, including 12 months working in London in 2007, and brings a range of accounting, financial, legal and managerial capabilities to the FTI board.

Phillip Hastings
Director
Phillip Hastings joined FTI in October 2010 and was elected to the FTI Board at the 2011 AGM for a one-year term. Phillip is a 45 year old retired Federal Police Detective and former soldier. He served as the Police Media Liaison and Public Relations Officer for the Australian Federal Police in Western Australia. Phillip was trained as a professional male model by the June Dally-Watkins Company in 1989 and has worked in film, television and electronic media since that time.
Over the years he has continued to actively participate in numerous film and television industry related short courses, forums and skills workshops. He has appeared in three feature films, ten short films, one television travel programme, three television advertising campaigns, numerous Police press releases, numerous newspaper articles and radio news programmes. Phillip has performed the roles of associate producer on a feature film; co-producer on a short film; extras co–coordinator on a feature film; historical supervisor on one short and one feature film; Location manager and continuity on short films and stage manager of a live theatre production.
Phillips’ recent co-production of the short film Restare Uniti has received international critical acclaim. Twice WASA nominated and winning best film at Ridgewood NJ USA it is now at Cannes. Through his not for profit company Swagman Productions Phillip is also helping new filmmakers hone their skills. He is looking forward to contributing towards the future development of FTI as a Board member and to encouraging all filmmakers and other interested persons to become actively involved.

Mark Hudson
Director
Mark Hudson was first elected to the FTI Board at the June 2005 AGM and was re-elected for a second two-year term at the 2007 AGM. After taking two years time out to establish his own business – Brandconnect, an innovative promotional marketing company – he was re-elected to the Board for a two-year term at the 2011 AGM.
Mark completed FTI’s Diploma in Screen Writing course during 2004; became an active member of the Members Production Group (MPG); and picked up a screen writing award at the 20th WASA ceremony held in 2007 for writing the script of the MPG film Brood.
His background is in marketing and business, having held a number of senior marketing roles both in WA and overseas. Mark brings to the FTI Board his marketing and business skills and is looking forward to once again being involved and contributing as an active member of the FTI Board.
